  3. Bring to a boil and simmer till thick and bubbly
  4. Remove from heat and add lemon juice
  5. Put apple slices in quart canning jars leaving 1/2 inch at top of jars
  6. Pour syrup mixture you made in jars filling to the top of apples so you still have 1/2 inch of head space removing bubbles in jars with a butter knife
  7. Put lids on jars and boil in water bath canner for 20 minutes
  8. Remove from canner and let cool then check to make sure they are sealed by pressing on tops of lids
